Whole-Home Filtration in Denton

One filter system on your main water line treats every gallon before it reaches a faucet, shower or appliance. We explain what it will remove, what it won't, and what it costs to own, so you can decide with the full picture in front of you.

What a Whole-Home System Does

A whole-home system, sometimes called point-of-entry filtration, sits where the water line enters your home. Water passes through a large tank of activated carbon before it splits off to the kitchen, bathrooms, water heater and laundry. The most common reason people want one is simple: city water is disinfected, and many homeowners would rather not taste or smell that disinfectant in their coffee or their shower.

It is the right call when the issue is everywhere in the house, not just at the kitchen sink. If your main concern is drinking water alone, an under-sink reverse osmosis unit may be the better fit, and we will tell you so. If hardness and scale are the problem, carbon will not fix that; a water softener does a different job. Many homes in Denton and nearby towns end up with carbon at the entry and nothing else.

What Your Installation Includes

A water test before sizing
Before we size anything, we test your water and go over the results with you. That way the system is matched to what is actually coming through your line, not to a guess.
Correctly sized carbon tank
Tank size depends on your household's peak flow, the number of bathrooms and your line size. Undersized tanks drop water pressure and wear out early, so we size for how you really use water.
Sediment prefilter
A cartridge ahead of the carbon catches grit and particles. It protects the carbon bed and is the part you will change most often.
Bypass valve and clean plumbing
We fit a bypass so water keeps flowing during filter changes or service. Connections are made neatly, supported properly and checked for leaks before we leave.
Installation for qualifying homes
Standard professional installation included for qualifying homes. We will tell you on the call whether your setup qualifies or needs extra work.
A walk-through when we finish
We show you the valves, the prefilter and how to tell when service is due. You will know what you own and how to look after it.

When a Whole-Home System Is Worth It

  • The shower smells of chlorine

Heat drives the disinfectant smell out of the water and into the room. When your bathroom smells like a pool, a filter at the drinking tap will not fix it.

  • Dry skin and lifeless hair

Some people find their skin and hair feel better once the disinfectant is taken out of their bath and shower water. Many families pick whole-home over a single tap for this reason.

  • Every tap tastes off

If the bathroom sink, the refrigerator dispenser and the kitchen faucet all share the same unpleasant taste, the solution goes on the main line.

  • Bottled water is a regular purchase

Bottled water cases and pitcher filters get expensive over time. A correctly sized entry system can take the place of most of them.

  • Clothes losing color

Disinfectant in the wash can slowly dull dark clothing. Carbon filtration cuts it down before the water gets to your washer.

What Affects Your Price

Prices for whole-home filtration vary widely because no two houses are alike. The equipment is one piece; where it goes and how it ties in counts just as much. We split the quote into its parts so each one is visible.

Size of the system

Extra bathrooms and heavier peak use need a bigger carbon tank. A larger tank costs more at the start but goes longer before the media needs changing.

Where your main line sits

A line that is easy to reach in the garage is a simple job. Rerouting, added piping or an outdoor enclosure brings more labor and materials.

Which carbon media

Regular activated carbon does a good job on chlorine. Catalytic carbon handles chloramine and is more expensive, so we check what your water calls for before picking one.

Upkeep

Prefilter cartridges get swapped every few months and the carbon media every several years, based on how much water you use. We go over these costs with you so you know what the system really costs to own.

How the Work Goes

  1. 1

    Your call and quote

We ask about your home, your concerns and where the main line enters. You get a quote by phone and a clear explanation of what drives it.

  2. 2

    Water test and results

We test your water and go through what the numbers mean. If the results point to a different system, or to none at all, we say so plainly.

  3. 3

    Installation day

We cover the floor along the path to the work area and turn the main off for a short window. The system is connected where your line comes in, typically a garage, utility room or an outdoor spot near the entry point. Most installs wrap up in a single visit.

  4. 4

    Flush, check and clean up

New carbon is flushed until it runs clear, every joint is checked for leaks, and we clear away packaging and debris. Water is back on before we go.

Questions About Whole-Home Filtration

Will my shower pressure drop?

Not when the tank is the right size for your home. Lost pressure almost always comes from a tank too small for the amount of water the household uses at one time. We size by the number of bathrooms and peak demand instead of grabbing an off-the-shelf model.

Will it also soften the water?

No. Carbon goes after taste, odor and disinfectant. The dissolved minerals that leave white spots on glass shower doors and crust in the kettle go right through it. If you have that buildup, we can discuss a water softener as its own system.

Is my water safe to drink without a filter?

Local city water is treated and held to regulations. Most homeowners pick whole-home filtration for better taste, less smell and comfort, not for safety. We will never try to scare you into buying a system.

Would I still want reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink?

Maybe not. Carbon at the point of entry makes water taste better through the whole house. Reverse osmosis filters further for drinking and cooking, and some families choose to have both. We lay out how they differ and leave the choice to you.

What kind of maintenance does it need?

Swapping the sediment prefilter takes just a few minutes, and the bypass valve keeps your water running meanwhile. The carbon bed lasts years. During the walk-through we show you what to keep an eye on.

Can the system be installed outdoors?

Yes, when your main line comes in outside. It has to be shielded from sun and freezing temperatures, and we build that into both the plan and the quote.
