UV Water Treatment in Denton
A UV system adds a layer of disinfection to every tap in your home without adding chemicals or changing how your water tastes. We size the chamber to your flow, fit the pre-filter it needs, and give you a straight answer on whether UV makes sense for you.
What UV Does, and What It Leaves Alone
Water flows through a stainless steel chamber past a UV-C lamp sealed inside a quartz sleeve. The ultraviolet light scrambles the DNA of bacteria, viruses and cysts so they cannot reproduce. Nothing is added to the water and nothing is taken out.
That point matters. Chlorine, lead, sediment and minerals pass straight through, and taste and odor stay as they were. UV works best as one part of a system, usually placed after a sediment or carbon stage from our whole-home filtration line, because cloudy water shields microbes from the light.
City water arrives already disinfected, so for many homes a UV chamber is an extra layer, not a requirement. On the phone, we give you a straight answer about which describes your home.
What Comes With Your UV Install
Chamber matched to your flow rate
We pair the unit's gallons-per-minute rating with your fixtures and the size of your household. A chamber that is too small lets water rush past the lamp before it is fully treated.
Pre-filters set in the correct sequence
A sediment filter sits upstream of the UV unit so particles cannot hide microbes from the light. If you want carbon filtration for taste as well, we work out the order with you.
Bypass valves
Valves on either side of the system let you work on the lamp or filters while the rest of the house keeps its water.
Tidy mounting and power hookup
We mount the chamber level on a wall close to your main line, and its ballast plugs into an outlet nearby. Lines run straight and carry labels, so the setup makes sense when you look at it later.
Sanitized lines after startup
After the system is up and running, we sanitize the plumbing past it so your pipes begin clean too, not just the water.
Signs UV Treatment Is Worth Considering
You have removed the chlorine
Whole-home carbon filtration strips out the chlorine residual that keeps water disinfected in your pipes. Adding UV after the carbon stage restores a disinfection step without bringing back the taste.
Someone at home needs extra care
Infants, older relatives or anyone with a weakened immune system can be a reason to want a second layer of protection beyond what the utility provides.
Boil-water notices worry you
Notices are uncommon, but if one leaves you uneasy, UV keeps working on microbes at the point water enters your home.
You want protection without chemicals
Some homeowners prefer not to add anything to their water. UV disinfects with light alone and leaves no byproducts behind.
How the Work Runs, Start to Finish
- 1
A phone conversation
We talk through what prompted your interest, who lives in your home and any filtration you already have. You can also ask us about a water test and water report while we're on the line.
- 2
A look at your setup
We check your main line, available wall space and the nearest outlet, then recommend a chamber size and pre-filter. If UV is not the right fit, we say so.
- 3
Your quote, line by line
You get a clear quote that separates equipment, pre-filtration and any plumbing changes, so you can see what each part costs.
- 4
Installation day
We shut off the water, lay down floor protection, plumb in the bypass, filter and chamber, then restore water and check for leaks. Most installs are finished within the day, and we clean up before leaving.
- 5
A walkthrough
We show you the lamp indicator, how to change the sediment filter and when the lamp and sleeve need attention.
What Sets the Price of UV Treatment
The UV chamber is only one item on your quote. The rest depends on sizing, the pre-filtration UV needs to work and how easy your main line is to get to. Standard professional installation comes with the system for some homes, and we figure out whether yours qualifies early in our phone call.
- How much water flows
- A bigger home with more bathrooms calls for a chamber and lamp with a higher rating, which runs more than a small unit.
- Filtering ahead of the UV
- A basic sediment cartridge adds little. Combining UV with a complete carbon system is a bigger job and is quoted that way.
- Where it goes and how easy it is to reach
- Mounting on an open garage wall beside an accessible main line needs less labor than fitting a unit into a tight utility closet or connecting behind drywall. Adding an outlet, if none is close, also changes the total.
- Upkeep over the years
- UV lamps weaken with use and usually get replaced about once a year, together with sediment filters and the occasional sleeve cleaning. We cover these costs up front so none of them catch you off guard.
UV Water Treatment Questions
Something not covered here? (940) 289-6071
Do I need UV if my home is on city water?
Often you do not. City water is disinfected before it reaches you. UV makes the most sense if you have removed chlorine with carbon filtration, have someone at home who needs extra protection, or simply want a second layer.
Will UV remove lead, chlorine or bad taste?
No. UV only inactivates microorganisms. For chlorine taste, look at whole-home filtration. For drinking water concerns like lead from older plumbing, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the better tool.
Does UV change how my water tastes?
No. Nothing is added or removed, so the water tastes the same as it did before the chamber. Any taste change comes from the filters installed alongside it.
What happens if the power goes out?
The lamp turns off and water keeps flowing untreated until power returns. Most units have an indicator that shows when the lamp is not running, and we can talk through options that alert you.
How much maintenance does a UV system need?
Plan on a lamp change roughly once a year, a sediment filter change on its own schedule, and a wipe of the quartz sleeve when you swap the lamp. The bypass valves make this a short job.
